INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WXIN) - A spoiled Thanksgiving for one Indianapolis teenager. Metro Police say around 1:30 Thursday morning, two men kicked in the door to a home and robbed a 17 year-old girl at gunpoint.
It happened in the Bayswater neighborhood, in the 500 Block of Austral Drive on the Northwest side.
The victim tells Fox59 News her father had been gone for about an hour when thieves showed up.
"I was listening to music on a computer and I heard a kick at the door and I started screaming. The next thing you know the glass shattered and two men came in here," said Dazasia, the victim.
She says one of the men wore a red hoodie. The other wore a gray hoodie and a mask. Dazasia says she was stunned.
"One had a gun and they walked me upstairs and had the gun to my head. He told me to lay on the floor, then went to my daddy's closet and took some stuff," she recalls.
Detectives say the men took a safe and large water bottle filled with the coins from home.
The girl says she then ran to a neighbor's home for help. Anthony, the girl's father says he's angry.
"Just knowing that your daughter had a gun up to her head. It's just a lot to think about, you know. I really wasn't worried about what they took. I just was thankful that my daughter was cool. They didn't touch her," says Anthony.
Residents say there have been five or six more break-ins in the neighborhood in recent months.
