INDIANAPOLIS—The Indianapolis Colts defeated the New York Jets in the AFC Title Game 30-17 before a packed house at Lucas Oil Stadium to earn a trip to the Super Bowl in two weeks. Their opponent is the NFC Champion New Orleans Saints.
Indianapolis opened the scoring with a 25-yard field goal by Matt Stover. That was followed by an 80-yard scoring pass from Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez to Braylon Edwards. Stover then connected on a 19-yard field goal before Sanchez found Dustin Keller in the endzone.
Jay Feely of the Jets added a 48-yard field goal later in the second quarter to give the Jets a 17-6 lead. Not to be outdone,
Peyton Manning led the Colts to a score with :58 seconds left in the half, cutting the Jets lead at halftime to 17-13. The Colts came out fighting in the third quarter and dominated to take the lead 20-17. Then they extended their lead 27-17.
Super Bowl XLIV will be played in Miami in two weeks.
