GOSHEN – The city of Goshen is performing an emergency water main shutdown to fix some damage to a city water main.

That’s forced the city to issue a boil water order for some Goshen residents.

The affected area is both sides of Lincolnway East from 1911 Lincolnway East at the Burger King south to Eisenhower Drive North.

After the water main is repaired, two water samples will be taken and analyzed to determine if bacteria is in the system. If two consecutive tests pass, the boil order will be lifted.

City officials say those affected should not drink their water without boiling it.

The water is still safe for bathing, laundry and restroom use. Cleaning dishes with a dishwasher is also okay if it has a sanitizing cycle. Hand washed dishes should be rinsed with boiled or bottled water.
