Kosciusko County police found one man stabbed 14 times and another lying in a nearby ditch with a head contusion and broken leg last night north of Warsaw. They've arrested a 25-year-old suspect.

The following release was issued by the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department on Thursday morning:

One man is in custody while two others are in a Fort Wayne hospital after a Wednesday night stabbing incident north of Warsaw.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies and emergency personnel responded Wednesday night at 9:03 p.m. to the Suburban Acres Mobile Home Park, 3699 N. County Road 175 East, lot #141, Warsaw, after receiving a 9-1-1 call of a potential shooting.  Officers arrived and located a victim, identified as Ruben Enciso, 39, who had actually been stabbed approximately 14 times.  As members of the Leesburg/Plain Township Fire Department were establishing a landing zone for the Parkview Samaritan helicopter, they located a second subject, identified as Hugo Alvarado, 33, Milford, lying in a ditch area approximately 150 feet from the stabbing scene, suffering from an apparent leg fracture and contusion to his head.  Both Enciso and Hugo Alvarado were transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne as officers and K-9 units from multiple agencies converged on the area in an attempt to locate the suspect, who was identified as Juan Carlos Alvarado, 25, Milford.  Detectives stated that both Alvarado brothers had arrived at the residence earlier and confronted Enciso in a back bedroom where he was subsequently stabbed during a domestic dispute.

At approximately 12:37 a.m., information was obtained by Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Detectives that Juan Alvarado might potentially be located at 314 N. Columbia Street, Warsaw, approximately three blocks from the sheriff’s department.  Deputies positively identified Juan Alvarado through a window at that location and entered the dwelling, taking him into custody without incident.  Juan Alvarado was transported to the Kosciusko County Jail and preliminarily charged with felony attempted murder with a knife.  Officers obtained a search warrant for the Columbia Street residence and located the suspected knife used in the stabbing, along with other evidence from the crime scene as well as small amount of marijuana.

Ruben Enciso is currently listed in serious condition at Parkview Regional Medical Center, while Hugo Alvarado is in fair condition.  K.C.S.D. detectives stated that potential charges against Hugo Alvarado will be forwarded to the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office as he allegedly prevent occupants inside the mobile home from leaving or calling emergency assistance after Enciso was stabbed.  Juan Alvarado is currently being held without bond on a prosecutorial hold from Kosciusko County Prosecutor Dan Hampton.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department was assisted with the investigation by members of the Indiana State Police, Warsaw Police Department, Winona Lake Police Department, and the Milford Police Department.

The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office advises that the defendant’s charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
