Purdue plans to honor astronaut Janice Voss, who died earlier this month of complications from cancer.
Voss was born in South Bend.
The school will host a public celebration for the Purdue Graduate this Friday in the Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering.
Voss spent almost 50 days in space and traveled nearly 19 million miles during her five space flights.
