A Harrisburg woman is facing a pile of charges after running down a stranger with her car. Police say Geneia Rice, 19, hit a 49- year- old- man along the 600 block of Emerald Street Thursday afternoon.

The man was taken to Hershey Medical Center to be treated for serious head trauma as a result of the crash.

Police say an officer was parked around the 2300 block of North 6th Street when he witnessed Rice driving fast and swerving. Rice looked at the officer but continued to drive. Police say Rice accelerated and hit the victim with the front of her vehicle. The victim was thrown into the air and toppled over the top of the vehicle.

The witnessing officer stayed to help the victim but was able to give a description of the vehicle to dispatchers.

Police were unable to stop Rice until she made it to her house along the 200 block of Woodbine Road where she was taken into custody.

Police learned that Rice had an altercation with another person and thought she had run over that person's family member. Police say the victim is not connected to the dispute.

Rice faces attempted homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, fleeing and eluding, hit and run with injury and five other summary traffic violations.
