Shippensburg, Cumberland County—Day Two of the PIAA Track and Field meet results in a gold rush for District 3 athletes. On a hot and sultry day at Shippensburg University, local high school track and field athletes make it to the top of the podium in a variety of events.
A pair of schools leave a lasting impression in the 4x100 meter relay. The CD East girls earn "AAA" PIAA gold with a time of 47.20 seconds after winning the championships at the Penn Relays and District 3 meet earlier in the season. Trinity's boys set a state record of 42.23 seconds in "AA" with a thrilling final leg to hold off Aliquippa. In the Boys "AAA" 4x800 meter relay, Cumberland Valley and Chambersburg lunge across the finish line neck and neck. CV edges the Trojans for the title with a time of 7:43.81 seconds. CD East's Deme'shia Davis sprints past the competition in the "AAA" 200m dash in 24.48 seconds.
In the field events on Saturday, Trinity's Danny Jackson is the winner in the Boys "AA" Long Jump at 23' 1.25". Milton Hershey's Ibn Short jumps an impressive 6'10" for the Boys "AAA" High Jump title. In the Boys "AAA" Shot Put, Cocalico's Kyle Felpel tosses it 59'1.25" for the victory. He edges Hempfield's Kyle Long who won gold on Friday in the Discus. Chambersburg's Marshay Ryan becomes a double gold winner for the weekend when she bests her opponents in the Girls "AAA" Triple Jump at 38'8". The Triple Jump gold will go nicely with the Long Jump title she won on Friday.
