NEW HOLLAND, LANCASTER COUNTY—Hundreds of motorcyclists from across Central Pennsylvania are rallying around the sole survivor of a motorcycle crash that killed five.
More than 900 bikes rolled across Lancaster County roads Sunday in a benefit ride to help Kristin Skowood as she recovers.
Skowood was injured in a June 27 crash involving three bikes and a taxi van on Route 72 in Penn Township.
Ride organizers are pleased so many came out for the event based at the New Holland American Legion.
"It really gave me chills, goosebumps, you know, it brought tears to my eyes, it's just amazing," Skowood's friend, Ashley Wharton, said.
"We never thought it would get this big," ride organizer Rick Bowman said. "It turned out real good though."
The crash that injured Skowood killed her fiance, mother, step-father, and two friends.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
