Tennis star Anna Kournikova's mother was charged with child neglect Tuesday after leaving her 5-year-old son alone in her Palm Beach home while she ran errands, police said.

Alla Vadimirovna Kournikova, 46, is accused of leaving her son alone for almost an hour at about 2 p.m. while she went to the bank and the post office. She told police the boy did not want to go along with her and was left with a phone while watching television.

The boy managed to get out of a second-story window and jump 15 feet to the ground. He told police he jumped into a swimming pool because his feet hurt.

He was found soaking wet by a passerby walking in front of the home in the 200 block of Seabreeze Avenue, police said.

Police said Alla Kournikova locked the home with a deadbolt and that the windows were shuttered. They entered the house through the second-story window.

Alla Kournikova arrived minutes after police called her. Her son suffered bruising to his feet and lower back from the fall, according to a police report.
