LOWER PAXTON TOWNSHIP, DAUPHIN COUNTY—Two shoplifters were on the run yesterday; first from loss prevention officers at Kohl's and then from police officers in pursuit in Lower Paxton Township. The suspects, a man and a woman, were observed swiping a number of items, including shoes and tights. They ran to a black Chrysler Sebring with West Virginia plates when the store's loss prevention officers confronted them outside the store. The vehicle was spotted several times by responding police officers, and the suspects eluded capture when they were boxed in by a patrol car behind a dump truck. The vehicle was able to squeeze by one of the officers, narrowly missing the patrol car. The pair abandoned the Chrylser after they crashed into a tree on the corner of Union Deposit and Cider Press Road.
The occupants had fled on foot into an adjacent wooded area. A search of the area failed to turn up the pair. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Lower Paxton Township Police Department at (717) 657-5656, the anonymous Tip-Line at (717) 724-8317 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 262-3080.
