The completed expansion project at the Ronald McDonald House in Hershey is already helping families this holiday season. After $4.5 million in renovations, there's an additional 20,000 square feet to cover.

Patrick Gallagher is a 5-year-old kidney transplant patient from Scranton staying at the house with his mom until sometime next month. The new playroom, full of games and toys, helps distract him from the blood tests and check-ups at the doctor's office across the street.

"We lucked out, we got a kidney rather quickly. It was a great christmas present. We were here before the expansion a couple of times. It's nice to have a little bit more room and spread out a little bit," said Patrick's mom Roxanne.

The expansion project will allow the house to help an extra 750 families a year like the Gallaghers. Patrick is expected to head back home next month after wrapping up his post-surgery treatments in Hershey.
