LONDONDERRY TOWNSHIP, DAUPHIN COUNTY—It is a gloomy day so what better way to spend the day, then with a glass of wine in hand. A new winery in Dauphin County is throwing open its doors for its grand opening this weekend. The Vineyards at Hershey will make the 14th winery to join the Mason Dixon Wine Trail.
February 25 and 26 will mark the grand opening for the Londonderry Township business. The owners planted the first vines in 2009 and began winemaking operations in 2011. Since, they have been patiently waiting for the time to open the doors and show off their products.
According to website for The Vineyard at Hershey, the company is built on a simple method. "The Vineyard at Hershey was founded on the principle that enjoying a bottle of wine is meant to be a shared experience with family and friends. From whimsical and refreshing whites to bold and flavorful reds, we handcraft every bottle of wine for your enjoyment. We invite you to savor our locally produced artisan wines nestled amidst our picture perfect setting at the Hershey area's newest vineyard and winery."
In business, timing is everything. The Vineyard at Hershey is opening its doors one week before the beginning of the popular Tour de Tanks put on by the Mason Dixon Wine Trail. The Tour de Tanks gives wine enthusiasts the opportunity to try vino from 14 different wineries all for one ticket price.
