MURFREESBORO—A visit by Harley-Davidson officials to a potential relocation site for the York County Final Assembly Plant was very positive, according to the town's mayor.
Murfreesboro, Tennessee Mayor Tommy Bragg told the Daily News Journal in Murfreesboro that Harley would "like to have a facility in the South" and that they "think it would be an excellent location."
Murfreesboro is a city of about 100,000 people located southeast of Nashville. It is the 6th largest city in the state.
According to reports in The Daily News Journal and the York Daily Record, Harley also confirmed it is visiting Shelbyville, Kentucky, and two other sites this week.
Harley says the visits are part of a study the company is conducting to determine whether or not keeping the plant in York is cost effective. the results of that study are expected in September.
