EAST HANOVER TOWNSHIP, DAUPHIN COUNTY—The northbound lanes of Interstate 81 were closed this morning in East Hanover Township, Dauphin County after a person was struck and killed along the road. The accident happened around 2 a.m. in the northbound lanes just after exit 77, Manada Hill. State police say 43 year old Christopher Anspach of Harrisburg was in a Pontiac Grand Am that was disabled near the right shoulder of the interstate. Anspach exited his vehicle for unknown reasons. Both the disabled Pontiac and the Anspach were struck by a tractor trailer that was traveling northbound. The tractor trailer was a 2003 Freightliner operated by 64 year old Euquerio D. Ortiz-Gomez of Newark New Jersey. The impact to the Pontiac caused it to catch on fire. Anspach died as a result of the collision.
Oritz-Gomez was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured.
