CAMBRIA HEIGHTS, N.Y. (WPIX)—The pantsless body of a woman was discovered on the side of a major road, next to a historic cemetery in the Cambria Heights section of Queens early Thursday, police said.
The person who called 911 described the scene to PIX 11 News as "really weird." Authorities continue to investigate as they try to answer the questions surrounding death.
"It seemed like she just got dropped off or she was just thrown out, like somebody just put her there on the side and just left her there," Delenzo Crosby told PIX 11 News about the unconscious woman he came across.
It happened while Crosby worked the graveyard shift, literally. The Montefiore Cemetery security guard spotted the unresponsive woman on the side of a major road, Francis Lewis Boulevard, next to the historic cemetery sometime before 1 a.m. He says the woman was white, had blonde hair, was in her thirties, and wore no pants or shoes.
Crosby says he called 911 and medics responded, but were unable to revive her. Apparently nobody heard anything or saw anything that could determine how the woman ended up in the grassy strip between the sidewalk and Francis Lewis Blvd at 228th Street, so for now there are more questions than answers.
At this point there is no word about criminal charges. Investigators are trying to determine how the woman ended up at the location where she died. Anyone with information on the case is urged to call the Crimestoppers Hotline at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
