Gunshots disrupted a festive atmosphere at the West Indian American Day Parade in Crown Heights Monday afternoon when three people were shot, police said.

At 2:30 p.m. two men were shot on Eastern Parkway, one in the leg and the other in the stomach. The man shot in the stomach is reportedly in critical condition, both men are at Kings County Hospital.

Around 5 p.m. a third man was shot in the leg at Nostrand Ave. and Eastern Parkway. His condition is not yet known.

It is still unclear what preceded the shootings.

The shootings come after an exceptionally bloody holiday weekend that left 39 people shot, many of them fatally.

Monday's celebration was the 44th Annual West Indian-American Day Carnival (better known as the West Indian Day Parade). The event has been marred by shootings in past year, but police were able to limit the violence in recent years.
