WHITESTONE, NY (PIX11)—PIX11 News first told you about an ugly eyesore back in July, the old Whitestone Farmer's Market on 154th street and 11th Avenue.
It was covered in graffiti and trash, today it got a makeover.
Thanks to City Councilmember Dan Halloran, Welcome to Whitestone Civic Association, and PIX11 News, an ugly house turned into a beauty.
"We have to make sure we have community spirit and take action when an owner doesn't step up," promised Councilmember Halloran, painting over some nasty graffiti on the side of the building.
"I've been looking at this building for years thinking someone should make this look better and we finally doing it," said Ashley Panagakon, one of fifty volunteer who spent hours cleaning the ugly house.
"PIX11 News did a great job too," said Joe Desabato, who lives across the street.
