GRANITEVILLE, STATEN ISLAND (WPIX)—Two 20-year-olds were shot, one of them fatally, inside a car in Staten Island early Monday morning.
At about 12:30 a.m., police arrived at a home located at 44 Yale Street in Graniteville and discovered two men suffering gunshot wounds inside an off-white Lexus sedan.
One man, a 24-year-old, was shot multiple times and transported to Richmond University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival at 12:36 a.m.
The other man, 23, was shot once in his left arm and is listed in stable condition at the same hospital.
Police say someone fired at the two men when they were inside the vehicle at St. Georges, a neighborhood in the northeast section of Staten Island.
The shooting victims then drove about five miles westward and crashed into the stoop of the Graniteville home. It is unclear why they drove to the house.
According to the Department of Motor Vehicles, the 1995 sedan is registered to a woman in St. Georges.
The names of the victims were not immediately released.
