Despite a night of amazing performances including the return of Lauryn Hill and Nas on the HOT 97 Summer Jam stage, Nicki Minaj’s vanishing act stole all the headlines.

The first lady of Young Money Cash Money was slated to headline the annual concert at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, that’s billed the biggest hip hop concert on the planet, but instead she was a no-show.

Minaj, a Queens native who has been quoted in the past as saying she has always dreamed of headlining the show, pulled out after an apparent diss by Hot 97 deejay Peter Rosenberg.

According to reports, earlier in the day, Rosenberg referred to Nicki’s “Starships” single as “bulls**t” before a live pre-show event for Summer Jam. The comment apparently angered Lil’ Wayne who tweeted, “Young Money ain’t doing Summer Jam.”

The tweet was later followed up with a series of tweets from Minaj, confirming her cancellation.

Although some fans seemed to have made peace with the Minaj no-show by the show’s end, it’s clear this is a story that will not be going away anytime soon.
