With the 17th pick of the 2011 NBA draft Thursday night, the New York Knicks selected Iman Shumpert.

Shumpert is a junior guard from Georgia Tech. He is a 6'5.5", 222 lbs. defensive specialist, something the Knicks definitely need.

Iman was not in attendance at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. and perhaps this was a smart decision. Upon hearing the selection, however, many of the fans in attendance showed disappointment at the choice.

When asked, long-time Knicks fan Spike Lee said he didn't necessarily know the young player but added, "We need defense. Defense. Defense."

Iman had over 1,000 points in his college career despite leaving a year early. He is one of the top players in the competitive ACC and has had over 55 double-digit games.
