Thursday night was intended to be a night of achievement for Jennifer Mejia as a member of the Class of 2011.

Sadly, for the second straight evening, her family was back at the Robertaccio Funeral Home in Patchogue, receiving a long line of condolences after her life was taken during a horrific massacre at a Long Island pharmacy.

Mejia was not only being remembered by loved ones, but also by her classmates at Bellport High School, the graduating class of 2011.

At the beginning of the ceremony a number of students walked in with white balloons as a symbol of Mejia leading her classmates as they cherish their years of hard work.

The 17-year-old was not the only one remembered on this day.

Earlier Thursday, there was also a wake for Jamie Taccetta, the 33-year-old mother of two was gunned down while picking up a prescription. Scheduled to be married in the fall, Taccetta reportedly will be wearing her wedding dress when she is buried on Saturday.

In the midst of mourning, the Taccetta's family issued a statement calling for stiffer legislation against prescription medication.
