HUNTINGTON STATION, N.Y. (WPIX)—A Long Island man is accused of stealing the car from a man who was driving him home, crashing the vehicle and fleeing on foot.
Suffolk County police arrested Timothy Hardge last night for the incident that allegedly occurred two weeks ago.
According to the district attorney's office, Nicholas Mittler was driving Hardge home from a party in Huntington Station on Aug. 28 when Hardge took out a handgun and robbed Mittler of his wallet and cell phone.
Hardge then forced Mittler out of the 2005 Hyundai, hijacked the car, and ended up crashing it into two parked car on McKay Road in Huntington Station, police said. Hardge then ran off on foot.
Detectives nabbed Hardge Sept. 15 and charged him with first-degree robbery. He is expected to go before a judge Thursday in First District Court in Central Islip.
