NEW YORK (WPIX)—Long Island Rail Road new timetables will take effect Monday, and will be in place until May 16.
Metropolitan Transit Authority officials say a Hampton Bays stop will be added to the 4:08 p.m. eastbound train from Hunterspoint, with weekend service restored to the Babylon Line.
The weekday shedule is being changed to accomodate midday track work on the Main Line and Montauk Branch. Also on weekdays, one of the two tracks on the LIRR's Main Line between Merillon Avenue and Carle Place will be out of service for installing new track ties.
Five midday, eastbound Huntington trains will leave Pennsylvania Station in Midtown three minutes later than usual, while five eastbound midday, Babylon trains will leave four minutes earlier than usual, due to one track being out of service between the AM and PM Peak periods.
Track work on the Montauk Branch from Babylon to Sayville will precipitate cancellation of three midday eastbound and three westbound trains from Patchogue and one afternoon westbound train from Speonk. Substitute buses or other Montauk branch trains will serve the affected stations.
Commuters can pick up the new timetable at their stations or terminals. For up to date information, log on to the MTA website at http://www.mta.info or monitor LIRR service alerts via e-mail.
