Former wrestling executive Linda McMahon has won the Connecticut Senate nomination.

On Tuesday, McMahon defeated former U.S. Representative Christopher Shays in the Republican GOP Primary.

This is the second time McMahon has been chosen over a veteran politician as a possible bid for an open Senate seat.

After spending millions of her own money in 2010, McMahon lost to Democrat and then-Attorney General Richard Blumenthal

Now she's fighting to take the spot being vacated by retiring Joe Lieberman. If she wins, McMahon will become Connecticut's first Republican Senator in three decades.

She faces Democrat Chris Murphy in November.

Linda McMahon is known for her thirty year career developing the WWF and WWE where she served as business manager, president, and later CEO.
