Police on Long Island are searching for a suspect involved in a rape at knifepoint near the Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow.

According to Nassau County police, the attack happened on Aug. 18 at about 5 a.m.

The suspect is described to be in his late 20s or early 30s with a slight beard and is about 5-foot-9. He was last seen wearing orange basketball shorts, a black and gray T-shirt and white sneakers. He also had a blue backpack at the time of the attack.

Police said the man "displayed a knife and forcibly raped the victim," before fleeing the scene.
