ANN ARBOR, MI (PIX11)—An 87-year-old man caught the eye of officers after failing to stay in his lane last week, but they probably couldn't imagine the eye-opening discovery they would make while searching his car.
Leo Sharp was pulled over Friday while driving on I-94 near Ann Arbor, MI, when police pulled up behind his pickup truck to pull him over. Sharp, a horticulturalist who is married with children, reportedly refused officers permission to search his truck.
The octogenarian now faces charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and could face 10 years in prison.
"To be 87 years old and to be facing these kinds of criminal charges, especially in federal court?" said Ray Richards, Sharp's defense attorney. "He's seen it all ... and now he has to fight for his life."
