A gale warning has been issued for much of the Chesapeake Bay through Sunday as the fringe of Hurricane Matthew is forecast to mix with a cold front passing across Maryland.
The National Weather Service issued the gale warning, meaning winds over the bay are expected to exceed 39 mph.
A small-craft advisory has been issued Sunday for the Baltimore Harbor, where winds are expected to range from 20 to 38 mph, said Ray Martin, meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
Over land, winds are expected to gust between 30 and 40 mph Sunday in the Baltimore area, Martin said.
Hurricane Matthew is forecast to move out to sea off the Carolinas.
