A mostly pleasant weekend around Baltimore could be interrupted by some rain showers Saturday and cool temperatures Sunday, before a surge of hot weather arrives next week.
Temperatures are forecast to bounce back into the lower 70s on Saturday, but meteorologists are predicting a 60 percent chance of showers in the afternoon and evening. There is also a possibility of isolated thunderstorms.
That precipitation is coming on the edge of a cold front that will drop temperatures significantly into Sunday. Early morning lows are expected in the lower 40s, and highs in the upper 50s.
To balance out the chill, mostly sunny skies are forecast Sunday.
By the middle of next week, a flow of warm, moist air from the south and the southwest are forecast to push temperatures into the middle or upper 70s Tuesday and the lower to mid-80s Wednesday and Thursday.
