Learn to be a weather spotter at upcoming classes in Glen Burnie, Ellicott City

Want to learn how to be a weather spotter for the National Weather Service? There are some opportunities in the coming weeks.

Weather basics classes are scheduled for April 24 in Forest Hill and April 27 in Glen Burnie, both from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The class covers severe storms and tornadoes.

Register for them at https://skywarnbasicsharford.eventbrite.com and https://skywarnbasicsannearundel.eventbrite.com.

A class focused on flooding is scheduled in Ellicott City on May 3. Register at https://skywarnfloodhoward.eventbrite.com.

Attendees are assigned a unique spotter number that they can use to call in reports to the weather service. Meteorologists use the input for a more detailed picture of storms, to inform the public and emergency managers, and even to evaluate possible tornado damage.
