The Baltimore area had a thunder-filled start to the week, as winds, lightning and heavy rains hit the area around rush hour. Tornado warnings were issued for parts of Baltimore and Harford counties, the last which expired at 6:30. Anne Arundel County had a severe thunderstorm warning until 6:15 p.m.
A severe thunderstorm watch for most of the state expired around 7:30 p.m.
The weather service warned earlier in the day that the afternoon storms could bring heavy downpours and damaging winds. Similar action is expected overnight, too.
Forecasters issued a flash flood watch for Cecil County beginning at noon and carrying on until Tuesday evening. People in flood-prone areas are advised to keep an eye out for further alerts.
Tuesday is forecast to follow a similar pattern with a warm, cloudy day giving way to storms in the afternoon and night.
The end of the week should be nicer and once the storms clear out early Wednesday, the weather service is forecasting a pleasant end to the week with temperatures sticking in the low 80s.
