The National Weather Service is calling for Wednesday to be sunny and hot in the Baltimore area, with a high near 98 and northwest winds between 4 and 7 miles per hour.

A heat advisory will be in effect from noon Wednesday until 10 p.m. Thursday. The heat index is expected to reach 100 to 105 degrees Wednesday and 105 Thursday. Overnight Wednesday, the heat index will remain above 80 degrees in the suburbs and near 90 degrees in urban centers.

Wednesday night is expected to be mostly clear, with a low around 82 and light west winds.

Thursday is expected to be sunny and hot, with a high near 100 and northwest winds between 3 and 6 miles per hour.

Thursday night is expected to be partly cloudy, with a low around 79 and west winds between 3 and 5 miles per hour. There is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m.
