Wednesday forecast: Cloudy with highs in mid-50s

A high pressure system over the Carolinas is pumping mild air into the region, with dry weather and highs forecast in the mid-50s in the Baltimore area Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service expects "a few high clouds", with more in southern Maryland, but no precipitation, according to forecast discussions. The day is expected to start in the lower 40s.

The pattern is expected to continue through Thursday, with highs in the lower 50s and lows in the lower 40s.

Friday, a wet weather system moving through the Mississippi Valley this week is expected to reach the mid-Atlantic but sapped of much of its strength. A 50 percent chance of showers is forecast throughout the day Friday, with highs around 50.

Saturday and Sunday could be the warmest of this warm spell, with highs forecast in the lower 60s and more dry weather.
