Wednesday forecast: Winter weather advisory; highs in 40s

A winter weather advisory is in effect through 11 a.m. Wednesday for northern Baltimore County, Carroll County and other parts of the state to the west, according to the National Weather Service.

Little snow accumulation, if any, is expected, and freezing rain is more likely. That is because of warm layers of air aloft causing precipitation to melt and then re-freeze before hitting the ground. Temperatures were expected to rise above freezing mid-morning, the weather service said.

The frontal system that brought the rain overnight is expected to move off the coast Wednesday, with rain and clouds tapering off through the day and highs in the 40s.

Breezy weather is expected to move in during the evening and overnight, with wind chills in the mid- to upper 30s.

Gusts are expected to reach 20 mph Thursday, with highs in the upper 40s and wind chills in the 30s. Temperatures in the 30s and 40s are expected through the weekend.
