More cold and dry weather is in the forecast in the Baltimore area Thursday.

The National Weather Service expects highs in the upper 30s, with lows around 30 degrees Thursday morning and overnight Thursday into Friday. Partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies are forecast throughout the day, with only slight 5 mph breezes from the west.

The pattern is expected to extend at least through the weekend, with highs no warmer than the lower 40s and lows below freezing, down to the mid-20s, through Monday. Dry weather is also expected through Monday.

There are no weather advisories, watches or warnings in effect across the state, according to the National Weather Service, providing some calm (albeit cold) weather after a string of snowy systems in late December. A small craft advisory for the Chesapeake Bay and tidal Potomac River is in place effective late tonight through early Friday.

While December was nearly among the top 10 warmest twelfth months of the year at BWI Marshall Airport, January is getting off to an average start. Normal temperatures this time of year are between the low 40s and mid-20s.
