Sunny skies with temperatures nearing the freezing mark are forecast in the Baltimore area Thursday, before a warming trend arrives for the weekend.

Single-digit lows were again forecast to start the morning, with temperatures expected to drop to about 7 degrees overnight at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.

But temperatures are forecast to rise quickly after sunrise, to the upper 20s by midday and the lower 30s by mid-afternoon.

Winds are forecast to shift from northwesterly to southerly around midday, eventually bringing more seasonable temperatures. Still, the breeze could keep wind chills in the teens and 20s throughout Thursday.

Mostly cloudy skies are forecast Friday, with highs in the lower 40s and lows around 30 degrees.

Temperatures could near 50 degrees this weekend, with highs in the upper 40s and lows in the 20s and 30s.

Monday could bring a chance for snow or a wintry mix, with temperatures in the 20s and 30s.
