Weather forecasters are in agreement that warm temperatures are likely for Preakness 2013 on Saturday, but they are mixed on whether there will be clouds and rain showers.

High temperatures are expected in the upper 70s, according to most forecasts. Normal for this time of year is around the mid-70s. Lows are expected in the lower- to mid-60s, also a few degrees warmer than normal.

But various forecasters predict a spectrum of conditions in the sky -- from partly cloudy skies to possible rain showers.

The weather service predicts a 30 percent chance of showers throughout the day. According to its forecast discussion, precipitation chances are highest to the west of Baltimore, in the mountains of Western Maryland, West Virginia, and Virginia, however.

The Weather Underground predicts mostly cloudy skies turning overcast on Saturday.

The Weather Channel meanwhile calls for partly cloudy skies, with a 20 percent chance of rain.

WBAL-TV meteorologist Tom Tasselmyer said via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon it is coming down to a showdown between the U.S. and European forecast models -- the U.S.'s GFS model calls for dry weather on Saturday, while Europe's ECMWF calls for a wet Preakness.
