Baltimore sets new record low ahead of gradual warm-up

Baltimore set a record low for the fifth time this month early Wednesday morning, ahead of a gradual warm-up with highs in the lower 80s.

Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport dropped to 55 degrees, the fifth time this month a record low was tied or broken there. The previous record low for Wednesday's date was 56 degrees, set most recently in 1997.

Sunshine is forecast to help warm temperatures into the upper 70s by midday and lower 80s in the afternoon.

Humidity is forecast to remain relatively low, with dew points in the 50s, but increasing throughout the day and into Thursday.

A slight chance of storms is possible Wednesday night into early Thursday morning.

Highs are forecast to rise to the mid-80s Thursday and Friday, with humidity back to more seasonable levels. Storms and showers are likely Friday afternoon and night.

A showery weekend is in the works, with 40-60 percent chances of rain throughout.
