Another chance of thunderstorms is expected Thursday afternoon amid warm temperatures and humid air.
Patchy fog was reported Thursday morning, with some storms passing through the region. The morning started off mild in the 60s, forecast to rise well into the 70s by midday, with afternoon highs in the lower 80s.
Storms are again possible in the afternoon, with a slight risk that they turn severe, possibly bringing damaging wind gusts and/or hail, according to the Storm Prediction Center. Tornadoes are not forecast to be a risk across the mid-Atlantic Thursday.
Cooler air is expected to move in Thursday night and Friday into the weekend. Partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid-70s are forecast Friday and Saturday, with a chance of showers Friday evening.
Clear and sunny skies and warmer temperatures are forecast Sunday and for Memorial Day on Monday. Highs are forecast in the upper 70s Sunday and the lower 80s Monday.
