Monday forecast: Sunny with highs near 40

Tranquil weather is expected in the Baltimore area Monday with highs in the upper 30s, according to the National Weather Service.

High pressure was forecast to settle in overnight, calming winds to about 5-10 mph. Temperatures are expected to rise from the 20s in the morning to near 40 in the afternoon under sunny skies. Wind chill is expected to make things feel about 5 degrees colder.

Lows Monday night are expected in the mid-30s in Baltimore.

A frontal system moving through overnight Monday into Tuesday is expected to bring precipitation, possibly a wintry mix turning to rain Tuesday morning. Highs Tuesday are forecast around 50 degrees.

Calm and cold weather are expected Wednesday and Thursday before another round of precipitation is forecast to arrive Friday, with a chance of a wintry mix expected throughout the day.
