Mild, wet weather forecast for inauguration, march

Weather for Friday's inauguration will be milder than usual.

A mild and damp weekend is forecast in Washington for the inauguration of incoming President Donald Trump.

Temperatures for Friday's ceremonies are forecast in the 40s, with afternoon highs in the upper 40s. A light but steady rain is expected throughout the day.

It will likely be one of the milder inaugurations on record -- temperatures have surpassed 40 degrees for only seven inaugurations since World War II, according to the National Weather Service.

It is the second mild inaugural in a row. It was 45 degrees for President Barack Obama's second swearing-in four years ago.

Otherwise, it hasn't been milder for inauguration since President George H.W. Bush was sworn in in 51-degree weather in 1989.

Slightly milder and drier but still damp weather is forecast for the Women's March on Washington on Saturday. Highs are forecast in the lower 50s.
