Messy morning commute, then sunshine, highs in mid-40s forecast

CommutingBaltimore Weather

A messy morning commute was forecast Tuesday, with snow and a wintry mix into the early morning hours, before sunshine brings highs up to the mid-40s.

Winter weather advisories across the region were set to expire by 8 a.m., with 1-2 inches of snow expected in Baltimore and 2-4 inches to the north.

Snowfall came in at the lower end of those expectations with 2 inches in Edgewood, 1.5 inches in Bel Air, 2.5 inches near Eldersburg, 2 inches in Catonsville, 0.9 inches at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and half an inch in downtown Baltimore.

Some Baltimore-area schools systems were on a two-hour delay, including Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County, Carroll County, Howard County and Harford County. Baltimore City schools were open on a normal schedule.

Clouds were expected to clear out by mid-morning, bringing sunny skies and raising temperatures from early-morning lows in the upper 20s to the lower- to mid-40s by the afternoon. A 10-15 mph breeze could make it feel like the upper 30s, though.

A relatively warm spell was expected to begin Wednesday, with highs in the lower 50s Wednesday and Thursday and the upper 50s Friday, and lows in the mid-30s.

Thursday night could be particularly balmy, with lows in the upper 40s, though.

Showers are likely on Friday.
