A change in the weather pattern could come Thursday, with highs in the lower 80s and increasing clouds bringing a chance of afternoon showers in the Baltimore area, according to the National Weather Service.
High pressure was expected to move off the New England coast, bringing a flow of warm, moist air from the south. Mostly cloudy skies were forecast for the day, with a 50 percent chance of showers in the afternoon and evening.
Overnight lows were expected in the mid-60s early Thursday.
Rain chances are expected to increase Friday, as a system that became Tropical Storm Andrea late Wednesday is forecast to move up the East Coast. Showers, thunderstorms and periods of heavy downpours are possible, with an inch or more of rain Friday.
Thunderstorm chances are expected to linger into Saturday, with clouds and highs in the lower 80s forecast for the weekend.
