Fears of another nor'easter type storm that could have dampened Thanksgiving week have dissipated, with warmth and sunny skies in the forecast, instead.
Temperatures are expected to approach 60 degrees Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with lows around 40 degrees. Mostly clear skies are expected.
That is several degrees above the normal daily range from 34 to 53 degrees this time of year, a change from the rest of the month. The average temperature at BWI Marshall Airport so far in November is 44.2 degrees, 4 degrees below normal.
Turns out it would be about normal for Thanksgiving, though. The average high for Thanksgiving Day over the past five years has been 57 degrees at BWI.
Here are the highs and lows for the past five Thanksgiving holidays at BWI:
- Nov. 24, 2011 -- 60/31
- Nov. 25, 2010 -- 52/40
- Nov. 26, 2009 -- 51/40
- Nov. 27, 2008 -- 48/25
- Nov. 22, 2007 -- 74/41
Forecast maps show the low-pressure system that some previously feared might head up the coast is instead expected to be well out to sea.
