Baltimore could near record high Sunday for Ravens/Patriots game

Forecasts suggest Baltimore could threaten a 124-year-old record Sunday, with temperatures as much as 25 degrees above normal and possible thunderstorms as the Ravens play the Patriots at M&T Bank Stadium and the region readies for the holidays.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a high of 67 degrees downtown, with a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.

The Weather Channel is calling for a high of 73 degrees with a 50 percent chance of rain, while the Weather Underground is predicting a high of 69 degrees and overcast skies.

The record high temperature for Dec. 22 is 70 degrees, a mark that dates back to 1889.

Those hoping for a more seasonable Christmas holiday, don't fret. Temperatures are expected to be closer to normal, in the 30s and 40s, by Tuesday and Wednesday.
