Hurricane Sandy dumped an average of 6.5 inches of rain on the Baltimore region, according the National Weather Service. That's about about double the total 3.33 inches of rain the area normally sees in October.

As part of our weather unit, I helped my son set up a rain gauge. We recorded 7 inches of rainfall from Sunday at 8pm until noon today (Tuesday)! We live in Mt. Airy.
