Missing was Jose Pava Castillo, 23, who was wearing a white prison uniform with the letters BCDC on the back when he vanished in the snow from the jail on Kenilworth Drive.
Castillo, who had no fixed address, was arrested a month ago and charged in the abduction of a 20-year-old woman in her car outside a convenience store on Washington Boulevard. The woman was forced to withdraw money from her account at several automated teller machines.
Police said Castillo was in a small group of inmates helping to load a truck when he disappeared about 4 p.m. "When the job was over, and officials did a head count, they realized he was not there," police said. "He may have been gone about 45 minutes before the authorities noticed that he was missing."
