Some cops traded in their handcuffs and badges for aprons and gourmet burgers in Roanoke on Saturday.
Local deputies, officers and troopers all tuned out at the Valley View Red Robin to wait tables for tips.
The money is for the Special Olympics.
All of the Red Robin restaurants in Virginia hosted the fundraiser and even kicked in a donation for every burger and Coke sold.
The event also gave all the cops a chance to be seen in a different light in their community.

"So many times when people see law enforcement, they see it in a negative way.  This gives us a chance to really help out people that are less fortunate. And we actually get more back when we help them than what we give to them," said Scott Young, a deputy with the Roanoke County Sheriff's Office.

Tip-A-Cop is a national benefit for Special Olympics.
Law enforcement in 35 states served up burgers at Red Robin restaurants on Saturday.
