The last living founding member of the Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home in Roanoke has died.
Harry “Cecil” Curtis Jr. passed away Friday.
He was 91.
Mr. Curtis was an original member of the funeral home that opened in 1952.
He is pre-deceased by his wife, Marilyn Curtis, who died in 2000. Marilyn Curtis was also a founder of the funeral home.
The Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home is still owned by the Curtis and Hamlar families.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at High Street Baptist Church in Roanoke. High Street Baptist Church is on Florida Avenue.
Mr. Curtis' funeral will be held at noon Friday at High Street Baptist Church.
