When should seniors start thinking about assisted living?
As you get older, doctors keep a closer check on your health.
But it's usually up to you and your family to decide when the right time is to start looking at assisted living.
Every month health professionals in Martinsville and Henry County do blood pressure and blood sugar checks as well as offer massages for senior citizens.
They also help with discussion starters and tell seniors the advantages of moving into assisted living or a nursing home.
"It's never too early to start thinking and planning ahead. A lot of times people are thrown into an emergency, health crisis. So it's a lot of different terminology," said Tilisa Riddle with Blue Ridge Village, a rehab and assisted living facility in Martinsville.
Riddle says most of the people asking about assisted living at the health screenings are senior citizens not family.
