A teen from the African nation of Zambia has feet that are size 17 but after two surgeries, his feet will be about size 13. Anderson Mambwe suffers from a condition similar to Elephantiasis.  Our cameras were there when Anderson was baptized  at St John Lutheran Church recently. OMNI Missions and Seeds of Hope brought the teen from Zambia .  Friday we spoke with him before he went into surgery. He was upbeat as he spoke with Karen ReMine, a registered nurse who will host Anderson at her home during recovery.  “He's waited for a long time probably 5 years of pain,” said ReMine.

Anderson was able to speak with us before he was rolled into the operating room. “ It's a great opportunity it's like God has fulfilled his promise,” he said.

This life-changing surgery is a miracle in and of itself. LewisGale Regional Health System provided operating space free of charge and took care of all medical costs. Striker Orthopedics will provide foot and ankle implants at no cost as well.

Dr. Charles Zellen is a podiatrist. He spoke to us about how his life is impacted by helping others. “Everytime I talk about this stuff I can feel butterflies in my stomach. I can feel the hairs stand up on my arms because I am doing something to give a little boy a brand new life.  It makes me want to go to work every day," he said
